About the Author

Optometrist, Public Health Scholar & Academic Author

Dr. Okechukwu Akogu was educated in Manila, Philippines. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Manila Central University in 1991, and afterwards enrolled in the Philippine Academy of Optometry, where he successfully completed the (hospital based) academic, clinical and research requirements, in the specialized field of Contact Lens and Clinical Optometry, to earn the distinction "Fellow" of the Philippine Academy of Optometry.

Dr. Akogu also holds a postgraduate diploma in Occupational Optometry from the Philippine Academy of Optometry (Philippines), a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from the Federal University of Technology Owerri (Nigeria), and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Public Health Parasitology from Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University Uli (Nigeria).

Dr. Akogu is an academic staff member of the Department of Optometry, Imo State University, Owerri, and is the author of four published books spanning contact lens practice, ocular pathology, binocular vision, and vision science.
